I think this is a great law. I probably will get some flack for that comment, but most know I am in for education for riding motorcycles. This law took effect January 2, 2011. It requires that all under the age of 21 take a motorcycle/rider course. Bravo I say! Bravo!

I gotta say, my first thought wasn't avery nice one. But then I remember all the young punks I see during the summer being stupid, and normally on a bike that is WAY too powerful and fast for someone that immature. After reading the story, the more I think about it the more I like the law. I would welcome something similar here in Oklahoma.
Why limit to under 21? Should be required for all.
Why under 21, just because some turns 50 and wants to ride doesn't mean that he knows how to ride. After not riding for 25+ yrs the MSF basic class was probably a life saver for me.
I also think it's a good move, but agree with the others, it should be compulsory for everyone. Just because you're a bit older doesn't mean you're any smarter or that you have the necessary skills. I've seen plenty of older people who think they know everything cause of their age (and experience?) but are just as dangerous as the younger riders.
I think we are all in the same thought here. Safety and continuing education. This is a good place to start. I just hope one day ALL who are issued a driver license, of any kind, is required to take a mandatory rider safety course...not take it as far as the physical riding, but at least a few hours in front of videos and real people and a real tests. Hopefully then all can understand the rider's point of view and be more aware of us.
Safety all the way. We've seen the young ones and folks in their 60's plus drive stupid. If ya take the class you have a better chance going home at night.
Starting this past September in Texas everyone who wants a motorcycle license must pass a safety course. I think it will be very beneficial.
It's one law I would support. I think the issue is that 21 and younger have less experience with any motor vehicle and are more apt to take things to the limit, I know I did way back when. I've been riding since around eight years old off and on but still thought I was indestructable.
Agreed, motorcycles are dangerous as hell. I wish I had taken a course before getting on one - luckily it was only 50ccs. If it were any bigger I'd probably be dead.
